Posted by FallowerOfHank - November 20th, 2010

Don't expect a Blue screen to stop me. But you can expect it to slow me down. Now, I hope this is Permanant long enough for me to finish this fuckin project. So... I am thinking about something of my own to make, but for now, I will make tributes...

Don't stop me here

Let me help you a bit, just listen to me. This will come of use to you.

One layer per body part, and not otherwise.
When animating, use frame by frame in about 5005-800% depending on parts. Body movements and heads are mostly done in 500%-600%. As for hands and feet, try 650%-800%.
Use smoothing techniques! Start out slowly, using onion skin if you want (I don't use it anymore, as I have had the ability to smooth out without it), as it does help. Start out with small movements when starting to move the body (course of movement will start at the body, head, hands and finally feet). Rotation is also smoothed, so start out with small rotations slowly, and when using rotations ALWAYS be careful. Doing one frame of rotation will look horribly, so take at least five frames to rotate fully (depending on what the movement is). Now, onto the guns, gore and actual movements.

For the body, always keep it rotated. Look at krinkels animations and yours, see a difference in stances? Yours seem a bit stiff, so try to smooth the body out and keep it at an angle when walking or performing actions (it may look somewhat awkward, but it's correctly done if it's at least at a 45 degree angle). Include your own characters (for now, you can use original or edited characters, but soon you might want to move on into originality). Guns aren't very simple either. An SMG will fire faster than an assault rifle, and they will have a bit more kickback, although depending on the gun and caliber, the flash might be different (so might the wound).
That hole looks a bit choppy, and I can see that there is a bit in the middle that was left grey, so try to fix that. As for backgrounds, try to use your own hand made ones sometime soon, as that will be an added bonus (you should also learn about the vanishing point, which is in the tutorials section on this site). Proportioning is also a good idea to keep notice of.
Now onto guns and gore.
Guns eject shells, so always take your time to do that. Remember to use masking for stabbing or slicing (you can look up tutorials on that too). The type of caliber the gun has will affect it's recoil (also, for pistols, remember to include blowback with the slider, although most SMGs and Assault Rifles don't really have them during madness). If you are using a gun, look up specifications on a website. The one that I use for sketches, gun creation, and things such as caliber, fire rate, and other associated is pretty nice, and is organized.

Now, finally, onto gore.
For gore, you need to make your own. Splatters, you can worry about later. Gore consists of three main parts- The light blood, which may splatter onto the body, the medium blood, which will contain the main wound but may also splatter (not as much as the light blood), and the darker blood, which is fairly small compared to the other parts, and will not splatter (changes size, along with the rest of the wound, according to the caliber/weapon used).
Things such as penetration (happens most of the time) and extreme gore effects, you can learn later on. For now, stick to basics with wounds (circles, sizes according to calibers, and sprays).

Now that you have this knowledge, I suggest you restart. No matter how far you got, all is not lost. Remember what I have said to you:
It is a test, all leading up to your first actual animation. Take your time, be patient and DON'T (I beg of you and all other animators) rush into Newgrounds expecting fame and fortune. Those are the mistakes I had made into 2008, and I wish not of them to re-occur to others who are just beginning.
This is the hard life of an animator. If you wish not to take those steps, then you might as well quit now. If you continue the way you are now, it will take you longer. Accept all criticism, and don't just say that you are a beginner. You can be great no matter what, even at an early "age". It may take time, but everyone can do what they wish with a bit of effort. Do not let these words go to waste either, as they shall guide you along your path into becoming an animator.

Things may seem hard and difficult now, but trust me. It just takes, time and open mindedness. If you have nothing but impatience, then you shall suffer the burden of eternal damnation into he horrible abyss of non-acceptance into the community of madness animators.

That's a bit much to follow dont u think? I'll take the time to follow this.
